Digital Assistant

2024 Turbotax Premier       Digital Assistant has no place to input a search     I see this question has been posted 

before but I do not see a definitive and exact way to fix.    This is beyond frustrating ''

Will this help?  See my screenshot on this post.  It works like a chat.  You enter your search on the very bottom line and hit the send arrow on the right.

there is no search on the very bottom line... there is no place in the box I can type    moved cursor over 100% of box multiple times.... no place to input anything

Are you on Windows or Mac?  Try updating the program.  Go up to Online - Check for Uodates.  Close and open Turbo Tax .  Reboot your computer.

Using Windows.....

 

I have checked for an update...multiple times.    last several times there was no update 

I have shut it all down and rebooted...3 times

 

Nothing works for Digital Assistant....   just get the "chat box" and zero place to enter anything

I have seen numerous similar postings ..... everyone just seems to get info on how to find what they are looking for... no answer seems to solve the problem

 

On a retirement blog for my company ... about 5,000 of us.    Growing these is Turbo is getting harder and harder to use.     other option seems more user friendly.

 

Most companies have a direct way to contact them..... do not see that here.

 

THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING

Here are two ways to do a search. Either one should work.


1. At the very bottom of the TurboTax Assistant window it says "Type or ask something." See the screen shot below. Click on those words and you will get a cursor that allows you to type what you want to search for. Then click the send arrow on the right or press Enter. If you get a response that says "Jump directly to ...," click on that.

 

 

2. Sign out of your TurboTax account. On the File menu (not the File tab) select "Signed in as Frank145." Then click Sign Out, and click Sign Out again to confirm it. After you sign out, when you click Search at the top right you will get a Sign In window. Do not sign in. Click the X in the top right corner to close the Sign In window. Then you will get the old-style search window with the search bar at the top where you can type your search.

I can’t even get to digital assistant! When click on search, I just get spinning circle saying connecting to digital assistant. Never connects. I’ve tried multiple times updating and shutting down but doesn’t help.

When try to connect to digital assistant, I just get spinning circle. Have tried multiple times updating, closing and reopening with same result. Tried your 2.) for search. It does not let me close the Sign in box. When click on X the sign in box will not close.

Internet connection is NOT the problem.  Pressing F1 key on my Win10 laptop opens a "TurboTax Help" window which says "Connecting you to Digital Assistant..." with a rotating"-..." that just spins forever in the middle of that window.

If you're using TurboTax Desktop, try using the magnifying glass at the upper right to Search.  Be sure you're running TurboTax and saving your tax file on your C drive, and you have Administrator Rights.

I would like to amplify any comment that Turbotax becoming harder to use.  I have been using it forever and the time is coming to find something else.   My latest adventure was trying to get an extension  printed out.

 

I gave up...did it manually.   Program would never create the document.

 

The thing that is 100% a show stopper is having no even remotely usable place to get help.   When something does not work the answer is not to send out a message to a forum and hope someone has an answer that works.   Note:  theyseldom if ever do.

 

Time to move on!!
