Desktop vs Online Pricing

I just received an email letting me know I can buy Desktop and save $10. That email also seems to want me to go online with Turbotax, with special offers starting a month from now, very likely after the $10 discount disappears.

I head for Turbotax online and I cannot find anything that indicates what my price would be if I do my taxes online, with or without any discount.

How can I compare the pricing of Turbotax online vs desktop?

You will most likely be better off, if you're going to buy now, heading over to Amazon since the price of the desktop versions are currently deeply discounted.

For Online prices........I saw the Online versions will be available on Dec 17 on a screenshot about switching from the Desktop program if you couldn't install the Desktop program.   For 2025 you will need Windows 11 or later or Mac OS Sonoma 14 or later (newer). Click on the 2025 tab at the top.

Are you thinking of using the Online version?  Have you been using the Desktop program?  There are differences.

If you used the Desktop program before you may notice several differences and not like the online version. It has less features and no Forms Mode. And you will have to pay first to see all the forms. All the Online versions do not have the same forms so you may need to upgrade to a higher version. Online Premium is the highest vesion and has all the same forms as the Desktop programs. You can only do 1 return per account. And pay for each account. You can use the same email for 5 accounts. Federal and state are separate fees.

Your return is only saved online so be sure to save both the .tax2025 data file and the pdf file to your computer when you are done. In case you need to amend in the future or if you need a copy to get a loan or something. You might not be able to access your online return when you need a copy.

Looking around for the Online prices.  Don't know if these are still from 2024 or for 2025.  No discounts showing yet.

Online Deluxe shows $79

Online Premium shows $139

State is an extra $64 in Online

And you need higher System Requirements for Desktop this year.   For 2025 you will need Windows 11 or later or Mac OS Sonoma 14 or later (newer). Click on the 2025 tab at the top.
