Delivery service misplaced paper return

I sent my paper returns via private delivery service  (I have extension). I don't have tax due, and am getting a refund. The delivery service seemed to have misplaced my package and are investigating the incident. Since tax deadline is tomorrow, I am thinking of mailing a second return today. I am concerned however as to what happens if the first package with the delivery service ends up getting delivered to them also.

Is there extra process me or IRS has to take if duplicate returns show up? Can I send a return later after due date after the delivery provider's investigation is over considering I have no money due?

Thanks in advance

If you have a refund you have 3 years to file.  So you can wait.

While there is technically a penalty for filing late, the penalty is a percentage of what you owe.  So if you are expecting a refund, there is no actual penalty that will be applied in your case.  It would be best at this point to wait for a resolution on the missing returns.
