deceased filing with 1310

I have to file a 1310 with my Dad's return.  I want to make sure I file this the most efficient way as I still have not gotten the refund from last year's return.

I plan on mailing return along with form 1310.  But can I ask for the refund to be a direct deposit into my account, or any account for that matter?   Or do I need to ask for a check refund.

First, be sure you need to file the Form 1310.   If you are the court appointed personal representative, you do not need the Form 1310, you merely attach a copy of your appointment to the tax return.  You can request direct deposit on the tax return.

If you file the 1310, you can still complete the direct deposit boxes on the tax return.  The IRS will either direct deposit or mail a check in our name.

In either case you are going to have to print and mail in the tax return with attachments.
