Same problem - I'm trying to pay the State e-file fee of $25 and it is not taking my cc - system must be down. Talked to 3 agents so far and none of them know how to take payments over the phone.
Please return to the MY INFO page in TurboTax and enter the same address as your credit or debit card you are using, go to the FILE tab to pay and make sure the credit card information matches exactly.
Please see this TurboTax FAQ for more information: Error: Your payment information cannot be authorized. Please double-check the information provided and resubmit
@Anonymous
I have several state returns I would like to submit online processing fees of $25 each. The "continue" button is not working. Please help!!!!
Good luck with that. The “Experts” here will suggest the same things they always have, none of which work. If you call them Support will have you try the same things Then suggest you pay for it from your Refund “for an additional fee”. This is at least 3 years now that it has been going on. Well I only endured for 2 because I did the smart thing this year and abandoned Intuit altogether. No more TurboTax for taxes, no more Quicken for personal, no more Quickbooks for Business.
@JeanneLO - You know that’s not going to work. So why suggest it?
@kstuhan - It has been happening for at least 3 Years now, so I would have to say “no, they are not working on it”, and don’t care. If they fix it then they can’t charge you “additional fees” when they force you to pay for it by deducting from your Federal Refund. People just need to get smart, like I finally did this year, and abandon Intuit/TurboTax. There are cheaper, just as easy to use , options “that actually work” available.
Not taking my cc. Keeps saying there's a problem
Is it broken?
The noted problem still exists as of Feb. 2022. Hard to believe that a large company cannot fix their credit card payment processing. I called yesterday and they told me to wait a few days. I've spent more time checking to see if the system has been fixed than it took to do my tax return.
Please see the Help Article here in regards to credit card processing.
Try this also to see if it resolves the issue:
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, please reach back out here in the thread and someone will follow up with the next steps.
I've deleted cookied, tried two different browsers and two different computers. Nothing works.

Requested a callback but was told some story about "end of month processing" and to wait several days before trying complete my return. Hard to believe a major company could function like this ... My return is completely done and I cannot file because your payment system for credit cards is down.

Error: "We are having trouble validating your credit card, please try again"
The problem is not with processing my card's details. I never get to the point of entering any information about my credit card. The system hangs after I choose to pay by credit.
No Tiffany, this doesn't work. I entered two different credit cards (which have no problems) and double checked that all the information matched EXACTLY. I checked that the billing address was correct. I called customer support and the representative told me to clear my cookies, which I did and exited out of the browser. This has ZERO effect on the problem, thus I wasted 10 minutes of my life listening to horrid elevator music on the phone. Why waste your breath on solutions that don't work? Fix your software issues or else there's no point paying for TurboTax to do my taxes anymore, and I'm sure the others on here with the same issues feel the same. I noticed how much more it cost this year then the previous two years, which makes me feel ripped off. It's a convenient tool, when it works, but the support is thoroughly disappointing.
In this forum we have limited access to your account and return to see what is going on. In the article @TiffanyL posted it does mention to contact your card issuer to ensure there are no problems. If this does not work you would need to try another card. To further assist you, please follow the instructions here to contact us by phone so we can screen share with you to fully check the issue. @jcookies
It directs me to this site to know if my turbo tax was bought. I bought it on Amazon.com and I have the license for it. Do I need to register my software on this site?
Please follow the instructions here to download the Turbo Tax software.
Please let us know if we can assist you further. @crowes2009
HAS THIS FEATURE EVER WORKED FOR ANYONE????? I've been trying since Saturday and as of this morning, the last rep I spoke to charged me $45 for the software I already paid for and has no idea what I'm talking about with regard to the $25 fee to file in Virginia. NOW even calling I cannot get through because the system doesn't understand my problem
