Clarification on refund received

Hi Expert,

On Credit Karma it says that I received $2,797.00 in Tax Refund but the amount I actually received form turbotax was just $1,037.00

Can you explain this?

Thank you so much.

Is it possible your refund could also be offset?

The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts.  You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.

The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.

Hi CatinaT1,

Thank you the quick response, however, I didn't have any past due debts and thus far I haven't received any letter. Do you know what I should do next to get my 2023 submission reviewed?

I would wait until you receive a letter from the IRS. Did you call the number just to make sure there is nothing on file?

You could also set up an account with them and probably find out what happened faster.
