Cannot delete form 2441

Im trying to remove for 2441. When I go to tools > Delete Form and select 2441, it confirms that the Form was delete, but it is in fact still there. The system wont let me file the return until I fix this 😱

If you have an amount in Box 10 for Dependent Care Benefits on your Form W2, you are required to file Form 2441.

If that is not the case for you, and you imported your W2, I recommend that you delete the W2 and enter it manually.

If neither of those apply to you, please respond back so that we can assist you further.

I am having the same issue: despite deleting form 2441, turbotax continues to tell me that I need to enter information on this form. I have no wages entered with a W2. And when I print my tax return, Form 2441 does not appear! I am unable to e-file because of this problem!

Follow the instructions in the link below to revisit the Child and Dependent Care section and delete any entry:

How do I delete Form 2441 in TurboTax Online?

I have the same issue. I am non-resident in the US and did not receive any W2s for 2023 or have any dependent care expenses in the US. I have tried to delete from 2441 multiple times but it regenerates every time I go to file. I have already paid the filing fee and now cannot file an e-return in time for the June 15th ex-pat deadline. Please help!

I recommend going through the federal interview questions again.  There is an input in the interview screens that is generating the Child & Dependent Care credit.    Start at the my info section of the program and review each question for any dependents to ensure you have entered everything correctly.

If you had a W-2 form in a prior year and do not have any W-2's in 2023, you can delete those forms as well.

On a side note, I noticed you mentioned you are a nonresident.  If you are a nonresident, you may not be able to file your tax return using TurboTax as only resident returns can be prepared with this platform.

To file a nonresident return, please refer to this link for guidance on how to do that.

hi @JotikaT2

Thanks for responding. I've been through the federal interview questions multiple times now and always checked the box to say that I did not have any Dependent Care expenses in 2023. The form 2441 is being generated with information about the specific childcare provider that I  reported on my 2022 return so I have to assume that Turbo Tax is generating this form based on my 2022 responses and that this is a bug with the Turbo tax software that is unresolved.

Re. being a nonresident, there is an input in the federal interview screens that specifically asks if I am a nonresident. I checked the box to confirm that I am and there was no error message informing me that I could not use the Turbo Tax platform to complete my return.

I had paid the federal filing fee of $193 as I thought my return was ready to file, prior to the error message regarding form 2441. I have now also paid $80 to purchase the desktop software version as I understand it has more functionality to edit the underlying forms and am hoping it might not have the same bug regarding the form 2441. How do I contact Turbo tax to ask for a refund of my original filing fee, as I am unable to file while this is still unresolved?

Thanks for your help.

Nicola

@JotikaT2

thanks for responding. I am unable to contact an agent unless I upgrade to a higher version of Turbo tax by paying another fee, which I am not prepared to do. I ended up downloading the desktop version of Turbo tax and was able to file without any issues, so the issue I had with form 2441 must be due to a software bug in the Turbo tax online version. I would like a refund of my online version filing fee. Can you please have someone contact me at my email address on file? I do not have a US phone number.

thank you.
