Can't Delete a 1099-B Entry

I made a couple of manual entries from a 1099-B.  It turns out I will be better off importing the form this year.  But I am unable to delete the sales I have entered.  It appears to be a display problem.  On the summary screen the display is truncated so there is no trash can icon.  I tried closing the file and reopening it - no joy.

Using desktop version in MacIntosh.

Any suggestions?

I spoke with a service agent.  The answer is that there is a slider bar at the bottom of the truncated display that brings the missing buttons into view.  I missed that entirely in the subtlety of the grey on white color scheme.  Problem solved.

Here's a user-suggested fix to reduce display size so that all buttons are showing:

The correct way is to change the screen resolution from optimum to the highest possible resolution.  I.e.  this means changing the built in display from 1152x720 to 1440x900.  This shrinks the picture so that it shows all of the intuit screen and you are able to see the cancel or save button to exit.

Currently using 1920x1080 on the display.  All other options are lower resolution.

Note this is only a problem on the 1099-B.  1099-Int and 1099-Div are OK.

And the 1099-B uses a different GUI from the other 1099s.

Had the same issue.  Problem resolved using the slider bar at the bottom.  Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I tried selecting the trash can to delete a 1099-B bad downloaded entry and it doesn't work.  It just highlights the whole screen--no other action/effect.

I am using Deluxe on a Mac.

Adjusting my Mac display resolution isn't obvious to me in the display settings.  They are fixed settings.  I don't seem to be able to adjust as you suggest.

This truncation problem has caused me a bunch of lost time because the trash can didn't seem to be working, but I didn't realize I had a pop-up screen at the top that I should scroll to, in order to confirm I wanted to delete some things.  Please fix this in future updates.

Same issue.  Did you find a resolution?

Yes - Once I scrolled to the top of the screen, I saw the pop up window confirming I wanted to delete.  The pop-up window wasn't visible on the screen where I was requesting the deletion.  See if that works.

Thank you for this.  I had totally missed the bottom slider bar as well.  I needed to edit a small mistake and now I can.

Thank you for sharing that you found the answer.

Ok- I must be especially stupid. I cannot find the slider bar. I'm on a Mac. I've tried everything people have suggested with no luck. Help

Try this instead:

For a MAC desktop, (see screenshot for visual)

  • Load up your tax return on your computer
  • Switch to "Forms" mode - the icon in top left corner of your program
  • You should now see a list of the forms in your return on the left-hand side of the program
  • Find the 1099-B you wish to delete and click on it
  • This should bring up the1099-B in your active window
  • Click on the Forms option on your menu (top of your screen you should see your Apple icon, then TurboTax, then File, Edit, View, Forms, Easystep, Flags, Window, and Help - click Forms)
  • There should be an option to remove the 1099-B form from the dropdown menu under Forms
