can i get some help on this question

I live in Montana, my wife has inherited a small percentage of an oil well in Texas So do we need to file a tax form in Texas? the amount is only about $1000 a year

Texas does not have a personal income tax so there is no Texas state tax return to be filed.  You have to report all of your income, from all sources, on your Montana resident state tax return.
