Browser update

I have tried to complete a filing for the last 4 days and every computer or device in my home turbo Tax states a browser update. I’m spending hours a day trying to update with my devices stating the browser is already updated. I even tried my sister computer and the same thing happens can not access Turbo Tax and have over 8 years of returns from prior years.

What can be done about this or it’s just a problem getting access to Turbo Tax?

Apparently the only way you can use TurboTax is if you clean out all your information for an "update".  This is crazy.

I am not going to clear out all my cookie just to use TurboTax.  You guys need to fix this.

This does not work.  I tried clearing my cache and cookies and still go back to the "You Need An Update!" page.  Apparently no one at turbotax is working to resolve this problem.

I've used turbotax for years and now suddenly the browser crap.  Finally went to hrblock and had absolutely no problem.  Bye bye turbotax

I filed online with an IRS-recommended site.  The browser works and no hidden charges.  Au revoir, turbotax!

Here is what I did, I'm not a computer whiz, if I can YOU can!

Updating Chrome did not work no matter what I tried!    I have an old Mac, version OSX 10.9.5.   I went to the Mozilla Firefox webpage while in my current Chrome browser and completed the browser download.  I have never used Firefox before.

Here is the key for you non-tech folks like me..  once you complete downloading it, you need to go to the Mozilla Browser Home Page and register.  It's not automatically using Firefox after you download, you're probably still in Chrome.   It's simple to register, email, age for some reason?, Verify code, etc.  It takes a few minutes, and color me skeptical, but when I finally went back to Intuit, using Firefox as my browser, Viola!

But if this isn't worth your time, (after 9 years with TT for me it was), then I'd suggest going elsewhere.

Cheers,

Same problem: can't get past the "You need to Update your Browser" page.  Followed all of the directions I could find (including calling the 800 number - which just sends you back to signing in and the update your browser message that's the problem you want help with).  Been using this same computer for TurboTax for 6 years - with no problems.   My Chrome 49 on Windows Vista is apparently outdated and can't be updated - but this is the same computer and Chrome version that has been working up to and including last year.  Can anyone help me?

Having the same issue.  All my browsers are up to date and so I am not about to download an update un needed.  I just need the download.  Is this really the way they are doing things?

@sbcole4 What browser are you using?

Try to delete your cookies. If that doesn't work, try clearing your browser's cache. Then try logging out and logging back into TurboTax. You can also try using a different browser. The following articles will show you how to do it.

Same issue for me! Very frustrating.  I've been a TurboTax user since it came out online, but each year it gets more complicated to access and use!  I tried updating Chrome and my computer that gets updated routinely via work says my Chrome is already updated.  Frankly, I hate CHROME!!  I prefer Explorer because it just works better, more often and more consistently without all the pop up crap!  I need access to do my taxes!   I basically had this one day to try to get them done and have already wasted an hour!

Short answer:  don't bother with turbotax.  go to the irs.gov website and use one of the partners there. it's free to use and it actually works.

I need a copy of a past return. I have just spent the past 90 minutes trying to get past the I need to update my browser page. I’m using a new Chromebook, not only is it running the most up to date version, it automatically updates. I can’t get a person because when I call I keep getting told they can’t locate my account. When I try to get online assistance, they want to charge me $46 for what is clearly an Intuit issue. Excuse the language. This is, **bleep**ing bull**bleep**. I will never go near TurboTax again.

My software hangs at the review on my federal only software. See my earlier question on this topic. There is more to this problem than clearing cash. Does technical support know about this problem? I have updated windows 11, installed all turbo tax updates, cleared cookies and everything in setting snd security thing in chrome , still hangs up

when I press continue on the review page. Please make sure tech support  is aware of this problem , not tax support. Any additional suggestions??
