Box D control number is empty on my W2

Turbo Tax Premium Mac is not enabling import unless Control Number is entered, but it is empty on my W-2. Should I try entering 00000 or control number from same employer last year? I read that IRS doesn't care about the control number but not sure why Turbo Tax is insisting on it if that's true. Thank you.

Don't try to import it. Should be just as easy or easier to enter it manually.

How do I import or enter my W-2?

To add a W2 just type w2 (small W) in the search box at the top of your return and click on Jump To the W2

OR To Add a W2 enter it under

Federal Taxes or Personal (Home & Business)

Wages & Income

Then Wages and Salaries- Click the Start or Update button

Enter it manually - bypass all of the import prompts. How do I manually enter my W-2?
