Box 14

I worked in California and Oregon for 2025 so my box 14 has two different taxes, one from Cali and one from Oregon. The California column has taxes deducted but no EIN #. The Oregon has the deductions and an EIN # but your software won't let me process without putting a # in the California box even though it's blank on my W2. I ended up copying the Oregon # and putting it in the California spot so I could process. Was that ok? I need to amend my taxes anyway because I forgot a 1099 file so I'm deciding if I should fix that part also when I refile.

Thank you!

For Box 14 amounts, use the Other - not  classified category.   TurboTax will ask if more information is needed.    Box 14   You don't need to enter the EIN from your W-2 anywhere except in the one EMPLOYER ID field.   If you have 2 lines in Box 14 - you should have 2 entries in box 14, with the amounts and category code Other - not classified for both.

The amendment form (Form 1040-X) will not be ready until next month, so don't make any changes to your return until the form is ready.  You can check this link to access the Forms Availability Tool to see if and when forms are available.
