Avoiding owing taxes

Hello,

Each year for the last 3 years, I've owed taxes. I have 2 jobs and file head of household with 1 dependent. How should my W4's be filled out so that I don't owe taxes? Also, is there an additional amount I should be withholding? If so, how do I determine how much?

Thanks for your help.

The IRS has a withholding estimator you can use:

TurboTax has a W4 Estimator:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/calculators/w4/

Using the W4 Calculator will provide the best information once you enter your situation.

Also:

Within the W4 Step 2c: Checking this Box in each W4 will provide adequate withholding although you can use the Multiple Jobs Worksheet (b) on Page 3 if one job is less than half the pay of the other.

Step 3:  Fill this out for only the top earning job.

Step 4:  Fill out Other Income, Deductions, and Withholdings as needed.   The TurboTax Tax Calculator will help you with these.
