Attempting to import from Chase

I have attempted to import my 1099's from Chase and it continues to fail.  I get a request for a temporary access code which is sent via text and entered.  It waits and then fails to import.  Is there a work around?  Otherwise I have a ton of data entry on my plate, which is what I'd like to avoid with TurboTax.

TurboTax does not ask for an access code so that must be something that Chase is doing.  You should ask Chase about this issue.  (Note though, import login to financial institutions is generally on a separate server not connected to your normal Chase account login so you might have a hard time getting to s Chase technician that know how tax imports work.)

In researching Chase say to select Chase Investments.  When I do I need to get a Chase ID code and TurboTax says to obtain the ID code by selecting the link below.  The link below takes me to an outdated web page for Chase.

The link is provided by Chase Investments.   If it does not work then contact Chase.

Well Chase was no help at all.  Technical support didn't even recognize the instruction on their own site.  They claim to have no supports in linking with TurboTax.  Very frustrating for certain!

This is the link that does not work that is provided in TurboTax

An older unsupported page from Chase

Well, I figured out how to make it work.  If I select the "Remember my User ID" on the login page of the site that says its and older version and please go to chase.com, it allows me to log in and obtain the TurboTax code.  Amazing that at the highest level of Chase technical support the answer was that they have no supports or linking to TurboTax.  Hopefully this may help someone else attempting to use the outdated page.

YOU ARE BRILLIANT!  It worked like a charm.   Too bad Turbo Tax doesn't seem to know the answer to their own problem.  Being able to import the investment statement is a big reason why I use Turbo Tax in the first place!

Edit on July 5, 2020:  this no longer works; I longer see an option for "Remember my User ID".  The url listed by more recent posters DID work for the return I'm doing today.

In case anyone is still trying to figure this out. The correct login page is: https://secure05c.chase.com/web/auth/?LOB=TurboTaxLogon

Thanks so much!  It's dumb that Turbotax customer support also doesn't know this.  I spent more than an hour with customer support (who was very friendly) trying various things.  But ultimately we gave up.  Can't imagine why big companies like Intuit and Chase can't solve this between themselves!!!

Thank you!  That link worked to get the ID Code for Chase Investments.

Yep, that was the trick.

TurboTax, if you're listening, this is not a Chase problem, it's a TurboTax problem, and during one of those updates you do every time I start the program, just change the wrong link:

https://chaseonline.chase.com/Logon.aspx?LOB=TurboTaxLogon

to the correct link:

https://secure05c.chase.com/web/auth/?LOB=TurboTaxLogon

Thank you, KL23!!

As you said, the short version of the solution is to use the following URL after it redirects to Chase.com:

https://secure05c.chase.com/web/auth/?LOB=TurboTaxLogon

How can the macuser replies in this thread be removed?  They are misleading and take people in the wrong direction.

My next question is

How can this be reported to the TurboTax IT Department?
They need to change the URL that they call.

Thank you, THANK YOU! I just spent half an hour on the phone with someone from Chase/JP Morgan investments who was no help (though to his credit, he tried), and the online info I saw elsewhere on this exact issue was not encouraging. So glad someone else posted a link to this disucussion, and even more glad you posted a link to the correct login page to get the identification code!

You're welcome, Harmonie!  I'm very happy to have contributed to helping you. 🙂

Any chance that Chase will send you an email follow-up from the call and you can report the concern and fix to them, please?   I have reported it through my local branch also.

I don't know, but if they do, I'll be sure to mention it. I will also discuss with my Chase investment advisor directly.

Apparently, comments cannot be deleted once they are posted.  A poster can edit to clear the content, but it will show as an empty comment (which is why I have 2 empty comment boxes up above!).

One of us must have gotten the message to TurboTax or Chase's IT Department, because Turbotax was finally sending it to the correct Chase server by July 14!   Well done to us! 🙂
