air source heat pump

I installed two air-source heat pumps.  I thought the tax credit was supposed to be 30% of the cost.  Turbotax says that there is only a $300 credit.  Some posts indicated that this may be a bug in Turbotax in that the statute was amended.

What is the correct answer and how do I deal with it?

The tax credit for heat pumps is for a maximum of $300 for tax year 2022.

 

For tax year 2023, the tax credit is 30% of the project cost, up to a maximum credit of $2,000.
