As an estate administrator, executor, or personal representative of a deceased person, you may need to request information from the IRS, which would include a tax return, which would have the deceased person's adjusted gross income for a given tax year.

The best resource for this is the IRS.  Go here:  https://www.irs.gov/individuals/request-deceased-persons-information.

You may need to seek qualified legal counsel in this matter, especially if you need to get a Letters of Testamentary issued by the probate court.

What do you need it for?  When did they pass?  You may need to mail a return for a deceased person so you don't need the AGI.  That's only to efile.

Or request a transcript from the IRS

Trustee of ex-spouse’s estate who died in 2022. Obviously will have to file taxes. I have no access/can’t find previous returns.  So I guess I should snail mail a decedent return? Then what happens if a refund is expected? If there is an amount due, the estate pays it? Thanks.
