Please describe what "won't work" means. What happens when it asks for the license code? Any error message? Are both machines Windows or Mac?
I get an error code 605 I believe when I enter the activation code I copied from my account provided by turbotax

In any case, if you're entering it using "copy and paste", try entering it manually. If you were entering it manually, try using "copy and paste."
If Error 605 continues with the correct code, then the code is likely now invalid. Here's how to phone TurboTax Support.

I've tried that. thank you. don't know how it could be invalid when I already activated it on one machine. Guess I'll be calling the number.

Also, some people end up with more than one Intuit account. Be sure when it asks you to sign into your Intuit account, that it is the same one as the first install. If that were the case, however, the accompanying error message should say that the license is associated with another account.

I believe that is what happened though the error didn't give me that info. Weird that different activation code in each account. Think we found the correct activation code. We will be testing out.
