5695 Feb 13th issue IRS Rejecting

I efiled with Turbo but IRS rejected due to not accepting QMID code on 5695. The error message indicates wait until Feb 13th or later to retry. TurboTax admin folks please update and reply to this if it is fixed sooner.

The IRS has implemented strict requirements for the Four-character Qualified Manufacturer Identification Number (QMID), and their systems currently do not accept letters 'I' or 'O' in these codes.

Major manufacturers like Daikin, Goodman, and Amana have been linked to the QMID I7Q6. Because this code starts with 'I', it causes an automatic rejection by the IRS e-file system, even if the manufacturer provided it.

See this IRS document.

While a software update was released for TurboTax Desktop on 1/29/26, users are still getting a rejection and are advised to wait until after Feb 13 to try again as the IRS implements changes. The workaround is to either file by mail, or wait until the IRS is ready to accept these by e-file.

Please check back after 2/13/26.

According to the IRS document the expected resolution date is 6-21-2026. Is this accurate or will there be a fix by the 2-13-26 date?

Depending on which version of TurboTax you are using, please follow the steps below to complete your filing:

  • TurboTax Online & ProSeries: We've resolved a recent processing issue. To ensure a smooth transmission, please sign back into your account, briefly review your information, and resubmit your return for electronic filing.
  • TurboTax Desktop: A system update is scheduled for February 8th, 2026, to address this processing error. On or after this date, please open your return, perform a final review, and resubmit it for electronic filing.
