2553 filed with incorrect info

Hi I noticed my CPA filed 2553 and NY CT-6 with incorrect incorporated date off by 3 months and for one member acquired date he wrote the word “several” instead of the acquired date.

what can I do now within the before March 15 date to send a corrected copy and will this create chaos or this happens and I would just fax written on top corrected form - supersedes filing males on Feb 6, 2026? I’m beside myself on this.

If Form 2553 was recently filed with incorrect information and the March 15 deadline hasn't yet passed, you can submit a corrected 2553. Write "Corrected" at the top of the form and include all pages. The IRS will generally treat the most recently received, complete and signed form as the valid election.

For New York Form CT-6 you can also submit a corrected form before the deadline. NY will process the latest properly completed election.

These links provide fax numbers for both forms:

Even if I’m not sure they opened the mailing I already did because tracking indicates IRS may not have received it yet. Will this create mass confusion for them?

Depending on the timing, you can fax your corrected forms and have the IRS and NY process them first.
