Can 2 different PC's be used to compile 1 single return? In otherwards, can TurboTax loaded on 2 separate PC's and locations, allow for update and entries to be made at 2 different locations to same return. Goal being that when file is saved at one location, it can be reopened at the 2nd location with 1st location entries saved? Thx Jeff
Only if you use the Online web version and each computer logs into the same account.
For the Desktop CD/Download program you would need to copy the .tax2021 file back and forth. But that is not recommended. Too easy to mess it up. You only have 1 file per return and it is only saved on that computer.
I did use the Download online TT version and have loaded it on both PC's along with previous years TT file history. When I submit info on one device and properly save the entries to Intuit, when I open it on the 2nd device, updates aren't there. Hopefully I've explained this correctly. End goal is to take mobile device to my different property/locations and make entries, save entries, and open TT file on main Home Base computer with all remote updates viewable. Obviously if the "save" process isn't entirely Intuit cloud based or if each TT download has a different fingerprint other than the identical license serial #, this won't work??? Help on whether or not this process is doable, is much appreciated,,,
First of all the download is not the same as the Online version. It is the Desktop program. You can install the Desktop program either with the CD or download the program.
The Online version you go online and log into each time through your browser. It is totally different than the installed Desktop program. Then you can log into online from any computer or device.
In the Desktop program you aren't saving your entries to Intuit. The return is only saved on that computer as a .tax2021 file. It should be in your Documents then in a Turbo Tax folder.
And you can't use the Desktop program on a mobile device unless its a laptop running Windows.
Your plan won't work unless like I said you copy the .tax2021 file each time to the other computer. You only have 1 current file.
