1099 NEC

HI,

While I was on unemployment. I got 1099 NEC form without any knowledge about it from the person that sometimes she was teaching me her business and I was helping her in some ways.  she paid me later and she told me it was  a gift from her to me, however she was reported the gift against her business's cost! Now I am wondering when I am filling my tax report should I 1099 NEC as part of my income? If I report it to IRS will Unemployment notify that ?

If she filed the Form 1099-NEC with the IRS you should probably report that income as part of your income.  I don't know if the IRS will report it to unemployment as unemployment comes from your State. You could ask your local unemployment office if it will affect your benefit as a general question.

To enter your Form 1099-NEC in TurboTax:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Click on the search icon in the upper right of your TurboTax screen
  3. Type "1099-NEC" in your search box
  4. Click on the link "Jump to 1099-NEC"
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  6. When you're done, we'll ask you a few questions and help you through entering any expenses you may have so that you can reduce your taxable income.
