1099-NEC turbotax problem with boxes 5-7

I am entering a 1099-NEC and box 5 is blank, Box 6 says CO but no number and Box lists state income amount. Turbo tax won't let me move forward without a state ID number and there isn't one listed on the 1099-NEC.

What do I do?

If box 5 is blank, it means that there is no state tax withheld.

In this case, you should leave all 3 boxes 5, 6 and 7 blank.

I have the same issue.  I didn't have anything in boxes 4-7 and when I go to file it wont let me through without filling in line 6

There should be no error if all the boxes ( 4-7 ) are blank.

Please return to that screen and make sure the box for "My form has other info in boxes 4-7" is NOT checked.

Thanks.  This was not checked, but when I went to the form, it had put in 0's...cleared that out and then did a final check for updates and all cleared.

So if box 5 is blank but box 6 has the State with no number, and 7 has the state income, would this mean that I should get my 1099-NEC amended?

If there is an amount in Box 7, then box 6 would need a state number that meets the requirements of that state.

If you can't get a valid number for box 6 today, and there is no withholding in box 5, you can try leaving box 7 blank as well as 5 and 6.

Each state has its own requirements for the format of the state id number.
