1099-NEC needs review

It keeps asking me to fill in Schedule C, but everytime I put in the info from Line 1 of my NEC and hit continue it just wants me to do it again and never seems to save my answer.

A 1099-NEC is a direct result of receiving income for your services. It does require you to prepare a business (Schedule C) on your tax return.

Instead of entering your 1099-NEC form, which is not a requirement, you can enter the income directly on Schedule C.  Keep the form in your tax files.

  • In TurboTax Online/Mobile:
    1. Sign into your tax return > Select Search (upper right) > type Schedule C > click the 'Jump to... link'
    2. Select 'Other Income' and enter the amount from your 1099-NEC and, if applicable, any other income you may have received.
  • In TurboTax Desktop
    1. Sign into your tax return > Select Search (upper right) > type Schedule C > click the Jump to.. link

This will allow you to enter your income and any expenses that directly related to your ability to earn it.

Please update here if you have more questions and we will help.
