How do i prevent Turbotax from putting my "cash in lieu of benefits" as business income? I receive a cash stipend in lieu of medical insurance.

To record the 1099-MISC income as other income but not self-employment income, follow these steps in TurboTax:

1) Go to Wages & Income

2) Other Common Income

3) Form 1099-MISC

4) Enter the information from the form

5) Answer "none of these apply" to the question about uncommon situations

6) Answer no to: Did the income involve work that's like your main job?

7) Answer no to: Did the income involve an intent to earn money?

Answering "no" in Steps 6 & 7 will record the 1099-MISC as Other Income on Schedule 1 instead of including it on Schedule C as self-employment income.
