1099_DIV and Box 2f

Trying to type out my 1099 DIV and I have a box 2f but I didn't see an area to fill that out? Any thoughts on what I missed?

I found that it isn't there because you don't need it.  This is the IRS regulation.

"Section 897 gain. If a RIC described in section 897(h)(4) (A)(ii) or a REIT disposes of a USRPI at a gain, any distributions made to the extent attributable to such gain shall be treated as gain recognized by the recipient from the disposition of a USRPI (that is, the look-through rule).

If any part of the ordinary dividend reported in box 1a or capital gain distributions reported in box 2a is attributable to section 897 gains, report that gain in box 2e and box 2f, respectively. See section 897 for the definition of USRPI and the exceptions to the look-through rule.

Note. Only RICs and REITs should complete boxes 2e and 2f. Boxes 2e and 2f do not need to be completed for recipients that are U.S. individuals."

Yes, you did miss something.

Follow these steps to enter additional boxed on your 1099-DIV

  1. I'll choose what I work on
  2. Wages & Income
  3. Interest & Dividends
  4. Select 1099 DIV
  5. Did you receive dividend income?  Yes
  6. Select  I'll type it myself
  7. Enter your information
  8. Just below Box 1b that ha a box to check
  9. My form has info in more than just these boxes

Hi John - Hmm I already did that and I see that I have 2b, 2c, 2d but no 2f? I also selected the "What if my form has other boxes filled in?" and didn't see any information in there? Anything else I'm doing wrong here?

So I just checked that last year's form didn't have a Box 2e or Box2f. Looks like these might be new for 2022 which is why I can't find them. If so, I'll wait for Turbotax to update. Thanks John.
