1099 deductions when married

If I am married and the mortgage and internet bill is tied to my spouse's bank account, can I still claim a deduction on a portion of it given I use a dedicated space and need high speed internet for my sole proprietor 1099 work? Do I need to show payments to my spouse in order to claim the deductions or is it implied that the cost is shared?

Yes, the business portion of your internet and home office expenses can be deducted for your Sole Proprietor business.  It is important to be able to maintain documentation that the business has incurred the expenses.  If these costs are shared between you and your spouse, then you would be able to deduct them and should keep good records with your tax documents of how you allocated those expenses to the business.
