1099-B TT Desktop Deluxe

I am using TT Desktop Deluxe. I have entered the 1099-Int, 1099-Div, am now trying to enter the 1099-B. I have read in other questions the step by step, but there is no way to enter or update my 1099-B data. I have also read where the Desktop deluxe edition is having issues with the entry of 1099-B. "Note: Be aware that some reports indicate potential issues with the 1099-B worksheet in the 2025 desktop edition. Always review your entries."

I have done all the steps, but TT Desktop Deluxe is not letting me enter or update my 1099-B. How do I get this data entered?

I suggest you try a manual update of TurboTax Desktop.  Before you start the update, if you have started a 1099-B entry, delete it.  See the following article for instructions on how to update:

My desktop Deluxe updates on its own, and I also use the on line check as well. It is updated. I have been using Turbotax for 17 years. Each year it loads the data from the year before.  This year, I loaded last years to start as always. Last year I had several 1099's. Including a 1099-B. For some reason, as I progressed through the various incomes, it recognized and updated each 1099. However, it did not offer, and ignored the 1099-B from last year. And when I tried to enter the 1099-B it fights me, or flat out ignores it, and moves on to the next income category.  I have read and researched this, and find I am not alone in having 1099-B issues. Some feedback on this year's TT.  Compared to the ease of previous years. This one for 2025 is a mess. One has to have a PHd in accounting to follow the flow, and answer the NOW many questions. If TT is trying to move folks off of TT download, they are doing a good job with the 2025 TT. Why would I need to delete the 1099-B if I managed to get it enter?

Note: Be aware that some reports indicate potential issues with the 1099-B worksheet in the 2025 desktop edition.

I have used TT for 17 years. Each year it uploads the previous year's data. That includes all forms of 1099. I had a 1099-B last year. But in doing this year's taxes, the various 1099's loaded, as I worked my way step by step. With the exception of the 10-99-B. And trying to manually add it for this is, is a fight. This seems to be yet another bug in the list of bugs for TT 2025.

I have not had the same experience when entering 1099-Bs and did test in TurboTax Desktop Deluxe. I did not select import and chose to enter them myself. It did ask if I wanted to select Premier and I chose 'Continue in TurboTax Deluxe'.

If you follow the steps in TurboTax you should be able to add your 1099-B(s). We appreciate you.

Open your return in TurboTax Desktop:

  1. Select Personal Income > Scroll to Investment Income > Select Stocks Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other
  2. Start or Update > Continue to follow the prompts to enter your 1099-B details

The sale of any investment is required to be included with your tax return, gain or loss.  Information from the link below may be helpful
