1040X

I recently learned that by entering my 1099Q the TurboTax software has actually been calculating the money as taxable, and that I do not need to enter my 1099Q since it was a qualified withdrawal.  The IRS advised me to amend my returns affected with the 1040X.  If I go back into my original software & amend the return, does that automatically produce a 1040X?

start with the return you filed,

tell TurboTax to AMEND.

1040-X  is generated and will be collecting the revisions/corrections you make.

 

That's how it's supposed to work.

Some filers have problems.
