1040S form eligibility for 2021

My wife and I were age eligible and used form 1040s in 2020 to file our joint tax return. For 2021, I imported tax info from 2020 but turbo is using form 1040 for us. I cannot get turbo tax to change our form to 1040s for 2021. What do I need to do to accomplish this?

Can you please clarify if you are wanting to use Form 1040SR?

Oops... sorry. Yes I meant form 1040SR

OK. Thanks. Continuing through the review section, turbo flagged the special tax reduction and allowed me to change the amount back to $600. Then turbo successfully completed the review section.

TurboTax uses your date of birth to automatically determine when Form 1040SR is generated.

To verify your dates of birth follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account if your account is not open.
  2. Select My Info in the left panel.
  3. On the page Personal info summary verify your birthdates.

I checked mine and my spouses birthdates in the Personal Info section. They looked correct but I re-entered anyway. One birthday is in 1952 and the other in 1954. Turbo Tax still using form 1040 for our joint return, not 1040SR.

The form 1040 and 1040SR use the same schedules and instructions.  Your tax returns are not affected by using one over the other.  Here is an IRS link for reference.
