What does Accepted mean?

So, you finished filing your taxes and your tax return has been accepted. But what does "Accepted" mean in TurboTax?

When the status shows "Accepted" in TurboTax, that simply means the IRS has received your tax return. This doesn’t mean it has been approved.

The IRS will review everything, and if you’re getting a refund, they’ll send it once they’ve approved your return.

Your refund status can be checked directly on the IRS site. To review the status, just type irs.gov/wheres-my-refund in your browser.

Select Check your refund. Enter your Social Security number, filing status, and the exact amount of your federal refund. Then, submit.

The results page will be updated to show that your tax return has been received and is being processed, or approved with the date the IRS will send your refund, or sent with the date your refund was issued.
