How much is the AMT exemption?

For tax year 2019, the AMT exemption is $71,700 (single and head of household), $111,700 (married filing jointly), and $55,850 (married filing separately). This is the amount that gets deducted from your AMTI (alternative minimum tax income) before applying the AMT rate.

The exemption amount starts to phase out (is reduced) at AMTI levels of $510,300 ($1,020,600 if filing jointly).
