The Form 1099-R section is estimated to be finalized and available in TurboTax on 01/21/2026
The section for entering a Form SSA-1099 is available -
To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button
There is NO where to enter this. It keeps saying there are so many tax fixes for 2025 that the 1099 Module is not ready yet. Been using TT for over 20 years and they seem to be getting worse with updates to the new tax laws....
@Doesitmatter It appears that the section for entering a SSA-1099 is missing from the desktop editions for tax year 2025. I will notify a Moderator.
The 2025 TurboTax online editions -
@Doesitmatter Correction - The 2025 desktop editions do have the section for entering a SSA-1099 available in the Wages & Income section under Retirement Plans and Social Security -
Change in the tax laws is the reason for the delay. Even the IRS website does not have all the forms and instructions or worksheets for 2025 posted.
The first day available to file with the IRS is January 26.
@Doesitmatter @DC433 If you click on Visit All by Retirement Plans and SS you do get the message - This section will be ready soon. But you can click on the next line down by Social Security to enter SS. I never use the Visit All button.
as of 1/24/2026 after down loading updates the SSa-1099 section still does not work. In fact it never worked last year. I had to enter the information via the form. When will this be fixed????

Which operating system, Windows or Mac?
Works fine using the 2025 TurboTax Premier desktop edition for Windows.
.
Windows 11 When I hit update on ssa-1099 nothing happens. I never get a window to enter the information. Same thing happened last year.

Have you tried uninstalling and then-installing the TurboTax program?
Or have you closed the TurboTax program after receiving a software update and then re-booted your computer?
You can also get a manual update using the information in this FAQ - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/update-products/manually-update-turbotax-windows-software-basic/L3Wf9OPaf_US_en_US
i restarted my computer and uninstalled and re-installed turbotax. The SSA-1099 update still does not work. It simply returns me to the top of the income list.
You do realize that you must be running the program in administrative mode. Instead of just double clicking the icon, right click it and hit "run as administrator".
You can change the properties permanently of the shortcut by right clicking it, go to properties, go to the compatibility tab and check the box,
Still cannot enter 1099-SSA into TurboTax 2025 Deluxe (Update Box doesn't function). Can't find any status from TurboTax or acknowledgement of problem.
@user17695294071 Have you tried going to Forms and deleting the Social Security Benefits Worksheet?
Thanks - I couldn't figure out how to delete the SSA worksheet. I deleted the Box 5 supporting details sub-worksheet that had carried over from 2024 and was able to enter the Box 5 amounts directly into the worksheet and that seems to have worked.
I tried to enter my SSI info from my SSA 1099, but it is not compatible with TT format. Is that getting fixed anytime soon?
Thanks
@user17702429910 you are probably entering the SSA-1099 in the wrong section of the program.
I am using Turbo Home & Business 2025. I am a in the US. I have never had any Canadian Retirement Distribution. When I want to input my Social Security 1099 the program defaults to either taking me back to the income summary page or if I select "visit all" for retirement income it starts a Canadian Retirement page. I cannot find any SSA-1099 forms in my file.(2/10/2026)
If you go to the Canadian retirement summary page, you can click the small trash can icon to the right of the pencil icon, then click Yes on the pop-up that shows up to delete the Canada RRP Wks, then click Continue, you will get taken back to the 2025 Income Summary page, where you can scroll down to Social Security under Retirement Plans and Social Security and click Start or Update.
There is NO where to enter information for the 1099-SSA. The input "button" only returns back to the same pages and does not allow for any input. I have been using TT for over 20 years and this is the FIRST time I was not able to begin my taxes in mid February.

Are you using the TurboTax online web-based editions or the TurboTax desktop software installed on a personal computer? If desktop which OS, Windows or Mac?
When you follow the procedure, what happens when you click on the start, update or revisit button
I have done as you indicated several times and the program simply does not bring up any input forms. It simply returns to the Federal summary page which is where I began.
I am using Windows 11 home, with TT Deluxe 2025. I have all the latest updates for Win11.
