Schedule C Mileage deduction

This question pertains to our 2018 tax return. We started driving for Uber and Lyft in July 2018 and plan to take the standard mileage deduction; since our business miles don't start until July, does that mean we don't start counting commuting and personal miles before July or should we enter the personal and commuting miles for the whole year?

Another quick question, we signed up for Uber and Lyft and took our car in for their inspection in June but didn't start driving for them until a few weeks later in July; what date do we put on the tax form where they ask when we put the car in service for this business: When we first signed up as drivers or the date of the vehicle inspection or when we first started earning money?

Many thanks for any help!

Start tracking all your mileage (personal, business, commuting) as of July 2018.

You put the car in service when you were able to use it for business--after the inspection.
