If you are an employee of an educational institution and you teach solely from home you can not take the home office deduction it is not available for employees.

However, if you are an independent contractor and report your teaching income and expenses on Schedule C Profit or Loss from Business you may if you qualify deduct home offices expenses.

To qualify for the home office deduction, you must use part of your home “regularly and exclusively” for business. Your office doesn't need to be in a separate room, but it has to be in an area of your home where you don't do anything else.

To enter your home office deduction in TurboTax follow these steps:

    1. Log into your TurboTax account if it is not open.
    2. Enter Home office deduction in the search box
