Foster kid dependent

I had a foster kid placed with me in December 2016 for less than a month. Can I claim his as a dependent? I am an unlicensed kinship placenta and do not receive any payment or subsidy from the state to cover his expenses.

Yes, you can claim the foster child as your dependent since the child didn't provide more than half of his own support and if the child was placed with you by an authorized placement agency or by judgment, decree or other order.  Foster children are treated the same as biological dependents for tax purposes.
