I purchased an EV vehicle in 2021 and installed an EV plug for it. I believe the credit was extended to 2021 but when I enter the information, it says that it was done in 2020. Is the software not updated? How can I input it in Turbotax. Will it get updated?
"The alternative fuel vehicle refueling property credit expired for refueling property placed in service after 2021. Do not report refueling property placed in service after 2021 on Form 8911 unless the credit is extended."
The statement you quoted means that if the charging station was installed during 2021, the credit still applies. If it is installed after 2021 (in 2022 for example), the credit must be extended in order to claim it.
Be sure that you have the most recent software update if you are using one of the TurboTax CD/downloaded versions of the program.
Go to Online > Check for Updates on the top line menu area.
The versions of TurboTax Online are automatically updated.

turbotax automatically updates when opened. I checked and it is up to date. Version [phone number removed].
It looks like the version number was removed. The form itself is still showing an old form because it looks nothing like the new 2021 form.
When will Form 8911 be available for Tax Year 2021? There seem to be more delays in tax form compared to previous years.

Turbo Tax Premier updated, still have Form 8911 which shows an expiration of the tax credit on 12/20. Most recent IRS forms identify the credit expires on 12/21. Can not enter info on old from. How do I get the updated form?
Even though your copy of TurboTax Premier was updated, Form 8911 has not yet been released for 2021 tax returns.
