Eldercare expenses

My husband has dementia and per his neurologist, he cannot be left alone at all.  I still work and he goes to a facility run by Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, CA, called Eisenhower Memorial Center, 5 star.  I asked them for their EIB number, and the person in charge said that they didn't have one.   He goes full time (except for when I am on vacation).

What is my next step.  Can I still deduct the expenses?

Thank you,

Cindy Anderson

I suspect that you require an employer identification number EIN to report Dependent Care Expenses on IRS form 2441.  Reporting the EIN is a requirement of qualifying for the credit.

Hopefully, this website provides the EIN that you require.

By law, not-for-profit organizations must make their financial information available to the public.  In fact, IRS forms 990 is an annual information return that may be available online for the organization.

Perhaps the person that you talked to was unaware of these issues.
