Can I redo the eic?

EIC: I had my Medicaid Difficulty of Care wages added in to see if we qualified for EIC, which we didn't. I want to go back, and take my income out, but when I go to Revisit the section, it merely tells me why we didn't qualify. There's no way to change the amount. Any ideas?

You can delete the W-2 for your Medicaid Difficulty of Care Wages.

To delete the Form W-2 that you don’t need:

  1.  Open TurboTax
  2.  Enter W-2 in the search bar
  3.  Select Jump to w-2 link in the search results
  4.  Select the trash can icon to delete the W-2.

Refer to the TurboTax article How do I change my W-2 info in TurboTax? to delete your W-2.

That's not what I'm asking. When the EIC window comes up, it gives you the option to either include or exclude the Medicaid wages when calculating EIC eligibility. The problem is that I had them use my Medicaid wages to see if we qualified, but using the income automatically puts us over the limit and disqualifies us. The second that happened it took over $1000 from our refund.

I wanted to go back and click the radio button to EXCLUDE my wages, but when I click the REVISIT button it merely shows a screen that says we don't qualify and there's no way to start the section over.

Sometimes the button does not reappear, so if you follow SharonD007 instructions to delete the W-2's, you can delete them and then re-enter them but do NOT select that you want to include the income this time.

Drat! That didn't work. It will NOT let you restart the Earned Income Tax Credit section to exclude the Medicaid wages. 💩

You can try to delete the Schedule EIC form to get rid of the credit so it resets and you can re-enter everything.

Which version of TurboTax are you using, the online version or the download version?

If you

  1. From the left rail menu in TurboTax Online, select Tax Tools (You may have to scroll down on the left rail menu.)
  2. On the drop-down select Tools
  3. On the Pop-Up menu titled “Tools Center,” select Delete a Form
  4. This will show all of the forms in your return
  5. Scroll down to the form you want to delete
  6. Select the Form
  7. Click on Delete.

Always use extreme caution when deleting information from your tax return.  There could be unintended consequences.
