I am filing an amended return due to an additional K-1 that showed up lately. One the questions that comes up is did you make any payments with your 2019 extension. I enter no but it always defaults back to yes. I did not file an extension and I did not pay any extra with my original filing in April. The 1040-X line 16 says $26,476. We paid tax of $59,117 with the original return via withholding & estimates. This resulted in a carry forward to 2020 of $20,264. With the amended return we now owe a balance of $261.
Any idea where the amount on line 16 on the 1040Z comes from?
My new 1040 for 2019 says we owe $261 but the 1040X says I have a refund of $26,215 coming?

More information may help resolve your issue. For example, what version of TurboTax are you using; if Download/CD, are you completing the amendment in the Step-by-Step questions or Forms mode; did you follow the instructions to not make changes until TurboTax had "frozen" you originally filed amounts; on the amended Form 1040 what amount are you showing on line 22 for applied to next year; on the original 1040 you filed how much was refunded (after applying the $20,264 to 2020); and what is the amount on line 23 of Form 1040X?
If you didn't pay any additional amounts in income taxes (including via the K-1), the line 16 of the 1040X should be "zero".
