Adjusted W-4

Hi. I want to know what exactly should my W-4 be going from single 0 allowances to married filing jointly with 2 dependents. Is current W-4 correct as married 1 allowance? I don't think HR is taking out correct amount for Federal or State taxes.

TurboTax has a great tool to calculate your taxes and generate an updated W-4 if you need to adjust your withholdings:

I recently (through my work/payroll) submitted a W-4 form to set me additional withholdings for federal taxes.  My wife did the same.   Now, going through TurboTax 2024 I clicked on "other tax situations / Form W-4 and estimated taxes"  - it's forcing me to load in estimated 2025 salaries and YTD stuff and looks like it will make a request on my behalf again.

1) will filling out the info in TurboTAx actually trigger a new W-4 to our employers?

2) can I or should I remove the W-4 stuff from TurboTAx and if so, how would I do that?

Completing your W4 on TurboTax is just a reference for you as to how you should adjust your form W4 at your workplace. The forms you completed won't get sent to your employers.

If you want to delete the form, see the following TurboTax help article:
