"Additional Dependents Worksheet" won't allow me to send

Trying to send my return through efile. It won't send because it says I have to check the Additional Dependents Worksheet. I have no dependents and have it so on my personal info section. I never used the dependents worksheet at all.

I recommend that you try deleting the "Additional Dependents Worksheet" in order to get rid of this error message.

Follow these steps to see if you can get rid of this error message:

  • Open your Tax Return
  • Click "Forms" in the Upper Right Hand Corner
  • From the forms list on the far left, click on the "Additional Dependents Worksheet"
  • While viewing the worksheet, click "Delete Form" which will be beneath and to the left of the worksheet

If these steps don't help get rid of your error message, please comment below so that we can assist you further.

Sorry for asking you to play tech support; I have the same issue (I'm stuck in a loop where it asks me to file an 'Additional Dependents Worksheet' on a 'Check Entry' page, when I don't have any Dependents listed on 'My Info'). I don't know where to go to open my Tax Returns so I can't find the 'Forms' section. I'm filing online, do I need to have the app or anything?

You can review your forms and delete any unnecessary worksheets or forms by following these steps in TurboTax Online:

  1. Within your return, click on Tax Tools in the black menu on the left side of the screen.
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. Click on Delete a Form
  4. Scroll down to your form and click Delete.
  5. Under Federal in the black menu bar click Wages & Income to get back into your tax returns.
  6. Proceed entering/reviewing your return.

If you have TurboTax online, follow these instructions for deleting a form.

Follow these steps to delete a form in CD/Download:

The best way, and often the only way, to delete income forms (including forms W-2, 1098, 1099, and K-1) is to do it from the summary screen for that particular form.

So, try that first — here's how:

  1. Sign into your TurboTax account
  2. Go to Search bar and search for the form by typing the form name (for example, W-2 or 1099-Misc)
  3. Select the Jump to link with the form name
  4. Then, see if that takes you to a summary screen
    • If searching for a W-2, for example, typing W-2 in the search bar and selecting the Jump to link in the search results takes you to the Your W-2 info so far screen
    • You can remove the W-2 on this screen by selecting the trash icon
