2021 credit

Do I use my 2019 or 2018 income for my 2020 taxes? I did lose a job this year so my income is really low. I do recall seeing something such as using the previous years income to get a larger refund due to the pandemic?

You enter your 2020 income on your 2020 tax return.

The look back to 2019 is only available if you are eligible for the Earned Income Credit or the Child Tax Credit.

The program should ask you to review those two credits if you are eligible.

Otherwise, after you have completed entry of all your 2020 income in the Wages & Income section.

Then in the Deductions & Credits section of the program you can go through both the EIC credit and the Child Tax Credit.
