WV State Filing - Schedule M Line 37

Hey all! My WV state return rejected, which TT Deluxe desktop cites as due to Schedule M having a value in Line 37. I contribute money each month to our 529C for future college savings. I have not withdrawn any, just contributed. The return rejected a little over a week ago, and said to check back for an update on 2/10/2023. I loaded TT up yesterday, the app got updated and also retrieved a WV State update. I followed instructions to review my state return again and check for any errors - it found none and said it was good to go. I submitted again, and the state shortly thereafter rejected again. TT now again lists the same explanation about Schedule M Line 37 and needing PrepaidTuition.pdf, just as it did before. Any thoughts? Federal accepted just fine on the first try.

Thanks!

Upon continuing research, could this be a form the state does not have available, or rather one that TurboTax has not yet released? I'm guessing the state wants proof of my submissions...?

Same issue.  State instructions say to attach your Year End Contributions statement or it will be rejected.  I dont see any way to do this within the e-file so I'll print and mail as a workaround.

Yes, this issue is occurring because West Virginia requires attachments to document your 529 account entries. You can't attach those documents in TurboTax and there is no plan for that to change in the near future.

Please print, sign and mail in your West Virginia return with the required attachments. This is to switch your return to mail:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Click  Fix my return to open it.
  3. Select File on the left side.
  4. When you get to Here are your e-filing options, select Change to the right of your West Virginia return.
  5. On the next screen select File by mail.
  6. Continue and follow the prompts to print your return.
