Wisconsin Schedule 1 Issue

Do not file the return until this form is finalized in the upcoming release of TurboTax/Wisconsin. To receive an update, select Check for Updates from the Online menu to connect to our website.

A form is "finalized" when it is made available in TurboTax. To make a form available in TurboTax requires the following:

  • First, TurboTax has to get the form from the state.
  • Then, TurboTax has to create an electronic copy of the form and get it approved by the state.
  • Then, TurboTax must code the software need to use the form. This can be made difficult by last-minute changes by the state or the late release of the form.
  • Then TurboTax has to test the software to make sure that it gets the right answers and that nothing broke.
  • And TurboTax has to do this in the middle of the first peak of tax season, when programmers and others are on call for 1,000 other issues.

The state has been slow to release this form to tax software companies and the public. Note that the state did not post its own fill-in version of the form until yesterday (2/4/2020) - see the state forms webpage.

Just keep watching the State Forms Availability page.

When I click on Schedule I it says it is available.  Why am I still getting the message that it is not and that I cannot file my Wisconsin return?

Turbotax  shows Wisconsin Schedule I as available, yet the update has not been processed.  You accepted my payment to file Wisconsin.  Please update so I can file or refund my payment!

I have the same problem, it shows it is available in the list and my software is up to date yet it says it is unavailable.  Can you please tell us when this form will be finalized?

I had the same issue.  I called Support.   We tried a bunch of things.  None worked.  Then he had me go to turbo tax.com.   View downloads & had me redownload state.  Launched turbotax again & there it was & I was able to transmit my WI return.

Talked to support.  Used this work around:  go to turbo tax.com- go to my downloads-redownload St of WI-launch turbo tax & it should be fixed.  Hope this helps.

I completed the Wisconsin return, and TurboTax allowed me to file it (and, of course, collected their $20), but now I can't print that return or save it as a PDF file.  When I try to fill in the form to receive a notification when the Wisconsin forms are complete, the response is that no forms will be sent, because none were requested.  Arggh!

If you were able to successfully e-file your Wisconsin state return, but are just unable to print it out after filing, can you check out the help article posted below to try and resolve your issue? If that does not help, please reach back out here and let us know:

Thank you for your response.  The problem appears to be Wisconsin form 8582, which is marked Do Not File.  The availability schedule says that it won't be available until March 3.  I suppose Wisconsin accepted my return because that form has no effect on my bottom line, or because Wisconsin doesn't check whether the form is final.  Apparently I won't be able to save my return as a pdf until that form is made final.  Wisconsin and TurboTax never seem to get along well.

Which Wisconsin form do you need?  There is no WI Schedule 1; are you referring to Schedule I?  Please clarify.

Wisconsin Form 8582 is available for mail; unsupported for Efile.

Yes, I see it now, thank you!  Wisconsin Schedule I (Roman numeral).  The forms availability table says it is available for Efile.

When you request your print/save copy are you choosing 'all forms and worksheets?'

If so, is it possible Schedule I does not apply to your return?  Since we can't see your return in this forum, here's a link to Wisconsin Schedule I.

Marilyn,

I don't think you understand my problem.

The form-Schedule I (Wisconsin state form) is in my desktop turbo tax  software and it is filled out with my correct tax information.

The problem is when I review my tax files (and yes the all files, a 43 page pdf,) before filing electronically,   the form doesn't show up.

My concern is when I file my state taxes electronically, the Scheduled I form wouldn't be transmitted and that will cause me problems, either with the e-transfer not going through or with it going through but missing an important document.

My software is fully updated.

So can you tell me, if I file my state taxes electronically, will the Schedule I form be transmitted, even if it doesn't show up when I "print my returns with all my tax records?

From what I could find, it appears it would be, but I can't officially confirm that.   Some users say that the electronic form is ready, but not yet the PDF.

Others state that possibly virus software could block an update containing the PDF.

Click this link for some info on Wisconsin Schedule I

They may be able to confirm this at TurboTax Support.
