Why does my MO return keep getting rejected?

I've never had this problem before.  It keeps saying an error with"Box 18" on W2.  I have gone through it several times, even deleted and started over.  The "Check my return" doesn't come back with an error.  And when it DOES reject and I go into to "fix my return" it just keeps going through a loop of "click here to fix" and back to "ready to file?", it never takes me to whatever the actual error is, so I can't fix what I don't know is wrong.

Hello,

I am having the same issue but I am fairly certain the issue is in 18, the system automatically put my federal taxes with-held, but it should be the total income. Since in that city is where I made the income. So I replaced with my wages etc. Left everything else the same.

This is the exact same issue I am having. Please double check box 15 right before you transmit and see if there are missing digits compared to your w2

Box 18 shows all the taxable wages, reported tips, and other compensation you earned during the year subject to local taxes.

Not all states have local taxes, so it's common for this to be blank on your W-2.   If it is, you don't have to enter anything for boxes 18 through 20.   If this is the case, leave those fields blank.

Is there an amount on Line 19?   If so, make sure you have the state code entered on that line and a description of the locality in Box 20. Pay attention to any warnings TurboTax shows after entering or editing your w-2.

There are amounts in 18 & 19 on both mine and my wife's.  The State automatically rounds up(over $.50) so my local wages are 48700 instead of 48699.75 actual dollars would that be the issue

The exact message I get is this:

Your Missouri return was rejected for the following reasons. Don't worry, we'll help you fix it.

Missouri return rejection

Your state return has been rejected due to a data mismatch on your form W-2.

Fix it now

Reject Code W2_Import_Hold

Then I click the Fix Now and get this message:

Let's take a look at your return

Description of error:

Your state return has been rejected due to a data mismatch on your form W-2.

What needs to be done:

There is a potential mismatch in form W-2, Box 18 (local wages) value on your state and/or local return. Double check Box 18 (local wages) of each of your form W-2 in the Wages & Salaries topic under Income or Federal. Change Box 18 to ensure it matches what is on your W-2, and follow the steps to file your state and/or local returns.

CONTINUE

When I click continue, I'm never taken anywhere in my return to fix anything, just back to a screen with this message:

Keep going to refile your return

You've visited all the reject errors on your Missouri return.

Missouri return rejection

Reject Code W2_Import_Hold

REVISIT

CONTINUE TO REFILE

Nothing is ever fixed.  What's more, if I redo my return it passes all of the checks as it goes through, never saying there's an error

Same exact issue and feedback loop I am getting. someone replied to me and said it may not be related to the amount of digits. But i have triple checked everything and it continues to be rejected.

I'm getting the same error message.

Everything is filled out the way it is supposed to be. What is going on with the system?

I'm beginning to wonder if it's due in part to what you said. The fact it rounds up the monetary value instead of leaving it exactly as it should be.

Let us know if you find anything.

Even the Mo.gov instructions say it rounds up

Rounding is required on your tax return. Zeros have been placed in the cents columns on your return. For 1 cent through 49 cents, round down to the previous whole dollar amount. For 50 cents through 99 cents, round up to the next whole dollar amount.

I have the same issue, it got rejected for the 8th time and then I checked my W-2 and tried matching it with my paper copy. Box 18 on mine when I filed said 1400 and some change but when I looked at my paper return it said 39008 or something like that so I corrected box 18 on turbo tax to match thenw-2  on hand and my state finally got approved

Having the same exact issue. Has anyone figured out the solution? Been rejected 5 times and all information matches.

I contacted Turbo Tax and they told me I need to contact my payroll department to ensure they have correctly uploaded my W2 to the state system. This is for Indiana if that matters

Same thing happening to my state return here in PA. Been rejected multiple times and keeps rounding to the nearest dollar. Has anyone found a fix for this?

I'm about ready to just go to the state website and file there and ask TurboTax to refund the fee for state filing.

This error happened to me and it seems to be an error in Box 18 while importing the W2 from ADP, just review the W2 and correct any wrong numbers. You know every year we usually see a unique error!

I don't know what number this is, but rejected again.  Is there someplace I can manually enter my information on the form instead of it porting it over.  I frickin done with this, it's always something every year!

I’m in PA and having this same issue. Did you figure anything out yet?

Nope, saw someone saying it was ADP (site that handles payroll etc for a lot of companies) uploaded it wrong to the state.  I think I'll be better off just printing and mailing it in.

You will need to check your W-2 entries compared to the import entries.  The import can cause some errors to occur when importing.  To view your W-2 entries, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax
  2. Click Wages & Income
  3. Click Edit next to Job W-2
  4. Verify all entries on the W-2 match what is showing in TurboTax

If all entries are correct, follow up with your HR department to confirm the W-2 you received matches what was reported to the state.

Still no luck.  Everything IS correct.  I have reached out to my company HR, so we'll see.

I have been cross-eyed looking for what is wrong.  I did find that TurboTax my local income was the same amount as my federal tax.  I have changed that and resubmitted.  This IS NOT a problem when the employer uploaded it.  It's a straight up bug in TT.  I should have known, because when I started to file it had my first name as my first and middle initial and I had to change that, even though it's right on my W2.  Seriously, TurboTax, get your crap together.....the tax check at the end should have caught this.

If it works for you can you tell me exactly what you did? I just cannot figure this out to save my life. It doesn’t help that if I delete the whole state and try again, it won’t let me type my own info in, it just ports it over for me. Ugh

So far, it has not kicked it back..... usually has by now.  I'm assuming that what I did this time is what fixed it.  I looked it over every single time and swear that it was correct then.  Box 18 had the same amount as my State Income Tax (box 17) I changed it to the correct amount.  Again not a problem with my W2 or it being uploaded.  This was straight up TT.  Again, the final check should have caught it.
