Where do I claim 529 deduction for IN state?

Hi,

I have the Home & Business desktop version of TurboTax and would appreciate your guidance on where to enter 529 plan contributions for the state of Indiana.

Thank you!

Indiana offers a tax credit for 529 contributions (rather than a deduction like some other states). There is a specific place to enter this in step-by-step. Here is how you can enter your Indiana 529 contributions in TurboTax Desktop:

  1. Navigate to the Indiana section of TurboTax (State Taxes > Indiana)
  2. Continue until you arrive at the screen Take a look at Indian credits and taxes
  3. Under the heading Education, choose Start or Revisit Indiana 529 Education Savings Plan Credit
  4. Enter the information from the 529 contribution
