I received a text msg that our VA state return had been rejected but for me not to worry Turbo Tax would help me fix the problem and for me to check my email for more information. The email stated that the VA Charity was identified as a potential issue in my VA return due to an error in your software. I was told to open my return in Turbo Tax and the details about what's causing the problem would be displayed and that you would walk me through how to fix the problem and help me e-file my return.
When I opened the return there was nothing detailing what I had to fix or even how to refile electronically for the VA state return. My Federal Return has already been accepted and is being processed.
Please help me immediately. This has never happened before.

I am dealing with the same crap. Don’t think I’ll be using turbo tax anymore after this and the stimulus f-up
Same thing happened to me with same code listed. The account access directions to fix appear to be for folks that filed online with TT and not those like me that purchased the CD and filed. Hopefully I'll receive directions tomorrow.
Apparently this issue is wide spread. I also received the same text and email. I bought the CD version, but regularly updated. I will never purchase Turbo (Tardy) Tax again.
This happened to me yesterday. Go to the top left and select state and state review, go through the prompt. (i didn't need to change anything but still needed to go though this process) and sign and submit again. You'll get an email/text it has been done and is processing. Within 48 hours you will see it has been acccepted.
Yesterday (February 18) I got an email from TurboTax that my Virginia tax return was rejected. I followed the instructions about opening my return, but there is ZERO information about what to do next. Please fix this so I can get my VA return accepted. It says make any changes if prompted to. Like is said I did not need to but I had to review and refile, sign and submit. My state was accepted today. so once you do this it should be a quick turn around.
Same thing happened to me and you can't get through to a real person to resolve!
Same thing here. Had two items marked 'revisit', I did...simple yes, no questions...and now I get the message "It looks like you have a tax situation in the Virginia return that makes it ineligible for e-filing"
"The good news is you can still print your Virginia return and file it by mail."
So...software issue causes a rejection by Virginia. Now I must print my return and mail it in? I 'amended' nothing. Turbo Tax/Intuit has some EXPLAINING to do.
I made certain that there were NO changes to my State Returns. Went to FORMS and removed all 'amended' worksheets.
I was then able to continue to e-file.
I am going to wait a day or two to make certain that there are no other updates needed.
how did you only submit the state it seems to want to go through the whole dialog again.
nevermind. Just walkthrough the file process it picks up with the state filing even though the breadcrumb still points to federal. Everything entered previously was there so no rekeying. Re-Filed, we'll see what happens.
My VA efile (2/15/21) was held (pending) then rejected (2/17). I used the CD and had setup TurboTax to do automatic updates. When the tax return is brought up, there is at the top of the banner of turbotax a tab that says 'Online'. Click it and you'll see 'update.' Click it and update your TurboTax. After I did this, I went through and 'REVIEW' and then started the efile process again. TurboTax did not charge me to file state (VA) again. I refiled on 2/18 and it was 'ACCEPTED' early morning hours of 2/19. So far so good!
Same here. Going back through it and refiling gives the same error.
I’m having to wait till my federal is accepted or rejected before I can fix the issue and file again. I tried already and it isn’t acknowledging I filed federal so I have to wait.
I used the download version, but when I open turbotax there is no "Online" in the banner. When I open my turbotax account there no e-file. Instead it said you have not filed taxes with turbotax. Confused and no way to get a person on the phone or email. Very frustrating experience.
where is the help from turbo tax. va dept. of taxation says they have not received my etax statement and informed me that its your problem for not filing my return. your email stated that when i log in to turbo tax that you will tell me why it was rejected. but according to va taxation, they never received it. what is going on here.
For those that haven't figured it out.....you need to delete the state return and go through it again. Was able to file after that without the error and the return was accepted this morning.
I followed your directions exactly. (used the CD) - Pulled up the return, clicked on the banner at the top on "online", clicked on "update" (even though I had JUST updated the program before this...). Went through the REVIEW process again (answers were still there, changed nothing), Noted that my federal return was already accepted (in fact, the refund has already been deposited at my bank!) but said my state return had not been filed. So, jumped the hoops again, hit "SUBMIT". Turbo Tax did not charge me again to file the VA state return. Immediately had an email saying my return was "in process" ; within 3 hrs I received a second email saying my state return was accepted. THANK YOU!!!!
Same happened to my VA return. It was accepted within 3hrs of submitting it again. For my issue, Turbotax did not provide the correct help. Figured it out on my own and crossed my fingers it would be accepted.
