Unemployment

If I collected unemployment from Illinois and reported this income on my WI tax return and paid the required taxes was this wrong? Is unemployment not reciprocal income?  Illinois is coming back saying I owe the tax but it was paid to WI

Which state are you a resident of? Wisconsin and Illinois do have a reciprocity agreement, but reciprocity applies only to income earned as an employee.

Refer to the WI Department of Revenue Individual Income Tax Working in Another State for more information.
