How do you know that the state taxes are computed incorrectly?

Is the wrong state tax return being generated?

Do you have the correct Resident state reported under My Info?  Under My Info, did you correctly answer the question I lived in another state.

Is the correct state information reported in box 15 through 20 of the W-2's in the tax return?

Because when I was in putting my information it’s stated that there was an issue that was wrong with my calculations and it says that I owe which I know I don’t only takes definitely enough out I checked with the payroll company that does my W-2 so something was wrong in the submission

Can you provide some details   @mcnajarr0   Did you receive state unemployment?  If so, what state?   Make sure that you have entered withholding information from Boxes 15-20 from your W-2s.

Hi. No I did not recieve state unemployement. From what it says on my W-2 and how I had my tax witholding set up with my payroll, more than enough of my income should have been withheld to cover state taxes.  So I do not understand why the program is saying I owe taxes

Check these:

  • Please check your W2 state income and tax withheld entries in the program. There may be a typo in the boxes causing you to owe.
  • Look at your actual state return and compare it to last year, see How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing?
    • What differences can you find?
    • how is that impacting the return?
