TT deluxe program says update needed before MA state filing,...  when i check for updates it says my program is up to date.  then i try again to submit the return, and again it says i need an update.  stuck in endless loop.

rebooted computer, restarted TT, checked for updates again, confirmed i'm up to date, resubmitted return...same result... check for updates...  frustrating...

same here. have called twice. support hung up once of the 2 times. they dont know how to fix this. we all need to switch to a different program.

submit your federal taxes separately and that works, but the state returns dont work. this is unacceptable.

I'm having the same issue with Michigan e-file.   I've already paid the $19.99 and at this point just want to file manually and get my refund.   I had to jump through a bunch of hoops just to get federal e-filing working....now this!

Please call in to TurboTax - click the link for your call-in options - and tell them you were given this message from the TurboTax Employee Experts in Community for the Call Center Team:

  • your program is not updating.
  • This is a known issue.
  • The solution is for the call center pro's to push you
    • first the federal software, and
    • then the state.

Everything will work after the new download. Thank you for your patience.

Thanks for your reply KathrynG3.  I gave it one more try last night.  It downloaded another update and then the state transmit worked.  All done for this year, but very frustrated that transmits were so difficult and time-consuming this year.  Will evaluate other options at this time next year.

I was given 2 answers.  One was told to call support line and have TT push  software to me.  But when I called support said I should uninstall/reboot/reinstall.  That worked perfectly.  Easy fix.  TT should advise that if you’re paid efiling fee that record IS preserved when you reinstall.  No issues.  Easy peezy.  Taxes filed
